Wibledon with motionby toutoungiComment by kanaj: This one was one of my top three for the challenge. I think the choice to compose this with the motion blur was inspired and demonstrates remarkable restraint, not accidental exposure. Maybe that didn't connect with everyone, but it did with me. 🙂 |

When I grow up...by toutoungiComment by kanaj: Absolutely love this image. I recognize it from another favorite in a previous challenge. This would rate higher from me in THIS challenge if it were composed into a poster form with something expressing the admiration/aspiration of its subject. But it's still a personal favorite for me. |

London Fire Stationby toutoungiComment by Bear_Music: While it's true that the two trucks are centered on the 1/3 verticals, more or less, and their bumpers occupy the 1/3 horizontal area, this doesn't read as a ROT composition, but rather as a centered and symmetrical composition. As much as anything, this is due to the central pillar and the way the FIRE logos define the horizontal center line.
It is a striking image regardless :-) Well seen. |

Hoze testing timeby toutoungiComment by kanaj: Adding this one to my favorites. I'm sure the majority of the middling votes on this one derive from disagreements over the ability of a two-dimensional medium like still photography to adequately convey a sense of negative space on the z-axis. But I'm not interested in ruling on that. For me, the sense of movement/direction was weak in this composition, but the storytelling and literally everything else about it was so exceptionally stunning--up to and including the muted color tones and the inspired decision to leave (or add?) the slight off-balance tilt to the perspective, lending an otherwise candid moment an almost heroic verve. |
