Low Budget Low Carb Angstby phoensoulComment by phoensoul: This shot was done with bright light between the hand and the background to get that outlining effect around the hand. Then I changed it to greyscale by using the channel mixer, and finally did two strong unsharp masks on it.
The idea was for it to come out looking like a cheap photocopied 'rage' poster of the sort you might see on a street corner, this one showing frustration with the expense of eating low-carb. Spaghetti, pictured here, is one of the cheapest foods there is, and it's very much inaccessible to the low-carbohydrate dieter.

Low Budget Low Carb Angstby phoensoulComment by TooCool: GeneralE? At first I was gonna mark this a lot lower than I'm thinking now.... I usually don't like shots that are processed as much as this one seems to be. Then I thought about how I sometimes feel just like this... When I look at this, I see a conflict between restraint and rage and this time, rage wins.
You're right on the edge with this one. Hope it does well, but doesn't cause a digital art border fight.

Low Budget Low Carb Angstby phoensoulComment by hlswilson: I love the concept, but I'm not a fan of the solarization. I would like to see the original and compare the two. Thank you for trying something different. I think this is one of the riskyist shots in the group. |

Low Budget Low Carb Angstby phoensoulComment by mhoogendyk: Feeling agressive, were we? Very nice image. I like the contrasts, the stopped action, and the overall graininess of the image. It really works. What did you do that highlighted the subject's right arm and hand so much? It makes it look slightly "unreal", but again, in the context of the whole image, it really is effective. Congratulations and good luck with the challenge. |
