Alone In Hidingby BigSmilesComment by Natasha: Critique Club
Composition=content
Composition is lovely here, perhaps a little too much like Shiizzams recent win, but works well. You have made a good statement here, but it could be taken as too general to really fit the topic of despair.
Technical
Focus appears to be on the material, adding a bit of softness to the eye area, perhaps this could be sharper. I think that the flash is a bit too bright for this kind of shot, perhaps some soft side lighting would have been good, lighting up the eye area, but de-emphasising the material.
My Opinion
I like the shot, it has a meassge and does make people think. The composition is great. |

Smiling Through the Painby BigSmilesComment by karmat: CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

COMPOSITION
Though the hands frame the face well, the overall composition seems a bit static. Perhaps if some of the mouth were covered, or if it were turned at just a bit of an angle, it would give it more dynamics.
TECHNIQUE
The focus and lighting is good, though some parts of the hand do seem a bit bright. I am not sure if this is a lighting issue, or tension from squeezing this little guy! I think it might have been interesting if the skin tones could have been desaturated, even a little.
OVERALL EFFECT
You ahve met the challenge well, adn I like the use of humor. |

Salt and Pepperby BigSmilesComment by lisae: Interesting idea, probably quite good for stock photography (I'm a bit unsure though). The texturing on the lids really appeals to me. The framing seems a little awkward, but I really enjoy the softness of the glass way back there outside the depth of field. |

Salt and Pepperby BigSmilesComment by inspzil: I'm not sure how this would apply to stock photography too much, but I'll pretend it does anyway. The tight crop is not conducive to this angle IMO. I think the picture would work better from a slightly less direct angle. You could still keep the macro approach to it to some degree and still make it successful I think. I would've cleaned off the tops of them too to free them from stains and such |
