Happy belated birthday! Looks like I'm almost 6 months older than you! This would make for a good product/card shot. Normally the items reflected in the baloon would bother me but given that this was a "Mirrors" challenge they are necessary and relevant to the challenge.

Good capture of a sad event. Black and white was an excellent choice for this and gives a newpaper feel. For an alternative composition, try cropping just above where the wind carries the smoke to the left, and just to the left of where it turns up. It might make for an interesting alternative.

Nice, emotive entry. I like the muted color and your choice of border works well for this entry. My only suggestions for improvement would be to show more of the hand clutching the bear (to better convey the feeling of security you chose for your title) and perhaps to include slightly more of the bear's hat as well. Nonetheless a solid entry that I believe should have scored a little higher.

great backlighting (almost like a sunset) and subject(the basket is great), the jewels just needed a little more lighting to bring out the beauty in them..still a good pic

I don't quite see how this is much of a political statement or much of a social statement. If you had perhaps held the 'Modest(y)' sign vertically to the left of the photo, revealing it all, so to speak, the shot, in my opinion, would take on a greater political and or social commentary meaning.

As it stands, the image provides little more then a statement of the American Status Quo. It is an affirmation of that which already exists in American Society. There is no challenge to my American values in this image.

That being said, the image is quite nicely captured and post processed. Based on the 'Nude II' topic challenge, I personally would have scored this a 9. I really like that amount that has been captured in the image, the slight tilt of your head, the slight grain to the image, the background. To me, it is a very well composed image.

I like this image.

Excellent use of color, light, and shadows. What strikes me about this photo is that your subject would not appear overly complex. It is the composition of the photo and your use of light that forces the viewer to recognize the intracacies of the subject. Great work, and good luck in the challenge!
