Eyesby carlosComment by samnotis: I don't think it's a sign of narrow mindedness to mistake this picture for a klan shot. I think any reasonable person in America would. It may be a sign of our ethnocentricity, but with such a potentially volatile subject matter for Americans, I don't think you should judge people and their reactions so harshly. I agree with you all... except with the DNMC. Everyone has already gone home, the kid's just arriving!! ;-)
The pic was a quick and dirt shot in a hurry, nothing staged. Just told the kid to stand there and he did... for a couple seconds, you know how restles kids get ;). No second take or even time to put the flash in.
I know the lightning is... difficult. I doubted about focusing on the kid, hence light him up, or the pavilion, and choose the pavilion as per the challenge description. Tried him to get just to a silhouette with very little detail. |

Maybe slightly left would be better, to reduce the dark central midground bleacher and show more bright background bleacher - difficult lighting. |

over already?by carlosComment by smyk: this image has lots of potential but there is something missing. I think it would have been better had everything been sharp; the boy, the seats etc. But i can see how closing the apeture in a low light area like this could have been a problem. so if you needed a wide opening, the focus should have been on the boy and the grid door seeing as how he and the door are the main subjects here. Hope it helps. Good luck |
