Face Offby pgattComment by superdave_909: I didn't mark you down for it because this is basic edit, but you may want to seriously consider cleaning your sensor!!!!! Very noticable in the upper right corner. That aside, nice b/w conversion, it's good to see one because I like b/w landscapes! 8 |

pdg-bus-card.jpgby pgattComment by jpochard: Paul, I like the color you chose. I would agree that the "please check website" is not needed.
The font is easy to read, although I'm not sure about the size when this is reduced to business card size.
My only other concern would be the colored lines upper and lower. I agree it looks very nice as is, but if the cards are not cut evenly, you may see a difference in the amount of white left on the outside of the line and that might look bad. Just a thought. |

First Lightby pgattComment by Rikki: The mood is great for this image. There's too much of the concrete path to the right though for this to be an effective piece. A tighter crop will do you well. |

Lazy Sundayby pgattComment by Rikki: Amazing tonalities in this image. I have definitely got to get me one of these R72 filters :) This image evokes of tranquility and peacefulness and the BW makes the shot sing :) |

Garie-1-DPC.jpgby pgattComment by SJCarter: This is really a superior image! So fluid and well composed. I think I understand what other commenters are saying about wanting to see it in color, but I think I like it as is in B/W. I also don't think it's missing anything as far as a focal point goes - it has plenty of subject matter upon which to focus IMHO. My only complaint would be that it's cropped a little too loosely on the bottom - I would recommend cropping so that only one rock is visible. I think that this solves a number of issues raised by other commenters and provides the same perspective (yet only slightly different) of the beach. Just my 2 cents... |

Garie-2-DPC.jpgby pgattComment by C-Fox: I think the horizon is just slightly off from level I like the contrast I can't tell if there is a smaller rock or figure in the middle right. I like the subject matter, and how dark the sky is. |

Footprintsby pgattComment by SJCarter: It really is a shame you haven't received more comments on this shot and I'm very surprised it didn't finish with a higher score. I gave it a 7 in the challenge and unfortunately am just as guilty for not commenting then. :-)
I like this image on a number of levels. The foreground sand with footprints being the best part (IMHO). The further up/back you go, the less I think the image has a realistic impact. It becomes (for some reason) less "real". I'm sure that this is probably just an illusion, but the colors and textures above the sand become surreal. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but I think it fights for supremacy with the natural sand. It's almost like this shot is actually 2 images overlapping - crop more from the bottom and it becomes surreal, crop more from the top and it becomes more natural. I think it's a great capture, I'm just not sure it presented itself in the best possible light for the specific challenge. Make sense? Just my 2 cents... :-) |
