Yes, it reminds me of the Baraka scene too... where the people travelling through a train station are compared to chickens in a batch line

thank you all for the great comments and scores! I'm almost glad I didn't win - there wouldn't be much chance of improvement that way ;-) actually, it's probably all down from here anyway...
I took the shot during a nice dinner at Metrazur, the restaurant on the East Balcony. It's a truly splendid way to combine a hobby with a "buzzing meal". For those of you who've never been to NYC, GCT is definitely a place to go when you do get here, dinner of course optional. This terminal's cathedral-like hall, the buzz and mumbling of the crowd (I'd say it doesn't even get loud during rush hour), the light, the masses pouring out into the hall from arriving commuter trains - simply beautiful.
The picture was taken using the ballustrade as a tripod substitute, which might explain the little tilt and the camera was set to automatic, no flash of course. My camera doesn't have any manual settings apart from white balance and exposure correction and I measured the light in different places till I got the picture I wanted instead of playing with exposure bias values.

It's all FEAR from here... good luck everyone!

This is great! Maybe the only thing I would change would be to have lowered the point of view just a little to eliminate the line on the top right and to include the feet of the feet of the people in the foreground. I would probably have to see it to know for sure.
