No Time For "Goodbye"by JakeKurdsjukComment by bob350: This is one of my two favorites in the challenge. The bright bird feathers evoke the idea of freedom to leave undesired circumstances, while the wood grain patterns provide an anchor to mundane reality. Dark background is uniform enough to simplify the image, allowing us to focus on the bird and dried leaf/twig. Scratchy texture provides a sort of graphic interest, but may not have been necessary. |

The Heart of Winterby JakeKurdsjukComment by Dennisheckman: Congratulations Jake! You've done well within your 100 foot circle this year! I've taken my share of bird photos, so just getting them as good as this is all you can do some times. Congrats on winning the marathon! |

The Heart of Winterby JakeKurdsjukComment by primabarbara: Originally posted by chalice: Flawless, Jake. Congrats on the frontpage finish. Given the tiny "heart" snowflake, perhaps this would make a good Valentine's card for those who live in the snow belt. |
Oh, I just discovered the heart just now - one more reason to cherish this lovely picture! Congrats! |
