critique club ;)

congrats on your first challenge

you had a difficult task combing the the light subject and the dark background

on my screen the background is so dark i can not really make out what it is

which detracts from the context

IMO it would been more effective if the background had been slightly brighter but out of focus with a shallow dof

same for the lost shoe i did not realize what it was until i read the pics comments

its a fine line between making your viewers work for the details and having the details missed

i have had the same happen to me where the meaning of the pic was totally lost because what i thought was an obvious detail was missed by many

as for Cinderella you did a nice job capturing the detail in the white dress while keeping good skin tones

for me i would have like to seen more of the models face with it being the focal point as opposed to the model in general

a great first challenge effort

hope to see you in many more

wonderful sense of motion, and having a beautiful model even for 20 minutes does not hurt either :). welcome to DPC, Emma!

Voted earlier coming back to comment now.

I really like the action of the scene - Cinderella in her white ballroom gown rushing to get away before the spell breaks. Her hair is all aflutter and she has gathered up her dress so that she can run better. We can see the one leg with the shoe - tis a shame the other is not visible so that we can see that the foot is bare. Cinderella is very prominent in the scene especially with the dynamic contrast of the white popping off the very dark backdrop. Because of the backdrop being dark and Cinderella's flight keeping a hold on my eye's focus, I almost missed the detail of the lost shoe in the back. I think the composition would be much stronger if her bare foot had been visible and mayhap have a bit more light to illuminate the lost shoe.

Nice shot and drama, but could not find a relevant nursery rhyme or fairy tale, so knocking off 3 for DNMC...

This isn't a nursery rhyme or fairy tale. I am aware you are portraying Cinderella...but the challenge description does state "Your title should reference the work you are depicting."

Beautiful modern Cinderella. Wish the slipper were a little more visible.
