Over the Ohioby jpochardComment by MarkJay: Nice natural sky colors (thank you for not OVERsaturating the colors as others seem to enjoy doing :-) |

I hadn't even thought about the fact that someone might connect this photo with the others I posted about the Easter production. I just thought they would be a timely subject last week before Easter.
Thanks for your comments. |

It Is Finishedby jpochardComment by soccerdad: I wasn't sure I liked the color choice, and the shutter speed could have been a little faster (looks like a little motion in the shepard behind the crosses) but I liked almost everything else. The depth of field choice in particular was very good as I can see emotion on all the faces.
FWIW: I don't think this is really chaos, but it didn't matter, as I thought it was a great subject for Easter week. FWIW: I scored it a 6. |

Hi Jpochard...
This is indeed an interesting concept :) 1" is a pretty long shutter speed for a shot of this type, but you seem to have pulled it off rather nicely :) I think you have conveyed a feeling of a headache very well. I can feel the world spinning around me and empathize with the pressure from this photo.
As stated in my original comment, I gave this photo a 5. I think it could be improved in several ways. After seeing your method and camera settings, I can probably say that 1" may have been more than necessary. I don't know if you tried 1/4 and 1/2, but it may have been worth while. I don't think the background blur needs to be particularly extreme to convey this feeling that you have presented here. It may have also reduced the amount of post processing required to finish the shot. My Sony 707 made really nice images at ISO 100, but this one seems a bit noisy in the background, and that may have come from the post processing of the levels and color.
This is indeed an excellent idea. I think you should pursue it again and try to perfect it :)

Thanks John...I appreciate the critique quite a bit. I did run this image through Neat Image, but could never really come up with results that I liked. I did receive several comments about the noise, and I think you maybe be right about the shutter speed. Thanks again! |

It Is Finishedby jpochardComment by BAMartin: So much emotion here. This photo brings many emotions to the surface, pain, suffering, and a sense of time-less-ness. Great capture. Good luck in the voting! |

Overwhelmedby jpochardComment by flip89: This is awesome, and thanks for giving us the technique how you did it. It is very cleverly done. Hoped it placed higher :-(. |
