portalby GilesComment by aliqui: That's probably the best shot of that hole I've seen here at DPC. I would be curious what the shot would have looked like 20 minutes earlier. I do love the orange there on the left water, but the foreground does seem a little dark. |

I guess you have put the question as to whether the DPC voters don't know what they are doing (and simply vote on an uneducated whim) to bed for good. |

portalby GilesComment by SaraR: These reservoir sink holes always intrigue me, and yes, a portal to another world is just as I think of them. Your composition combined with the night time exposure and eerie sky add to the feel. |

viking funeral armadaby GilesComment by scottwright61: Interesting shot, but I can't seem to come up with much else to say. There isn't one place of focus, or interest. I just see for objects without much contrast. |

portalby GilesComment by HarveyG: Mesmerising and the use of the long exposure quite literally "sucks the viewer in".
Unique image, not that it hasn't been used before :) but you are the only one on DPC I think that has Giles. Great TOD to take the shot with distant lights and some activity in the sky. Long exposure has mirrored the lake. It just seems overall a tad dark: the hills and the 'portal' specifically.
It's such a difficult decision to make; should you leave it as you shot it or should you boost the contrast and saturation for a FS? 7. |

portalby GilesComment by jusjoshing: I was just looking at a photo of this today in an earlier challege, sometime in 2007 I believe! I thought the photo was very cool but it has been out done right here! Peak district right? It is very well done! I hope to see in on the front page in a few days. Great job. |
