Flirtingby heidaComment by HBunch: *Critique Club*
This photo seems a bit unbalanced to me. What I see is the glasses taking up the left side of the photo, and she is taking up the right side of the photo, however, her face is way up in the photo toward the top and her eyes are dangerously close to the top frame of the photo.
The soft focus actually works for me here. Kind of gives us a dreamy feeling about the whole shot.
The way you have blurred the background is great. I think it gets the background out of the way and lets us focus on the subject a lot. The lighting is a little dark, but I think it's ok that way, as we can see her face just fine. Kind of gives a mysterious feeling as well as dreamy feeling.
Overall, I think that it's a wonderful shot, and there isn't much that I'd like to see differently other than the eyes a little farther away from the frame of the photo. I would like to see it more of the main subject, and with them so close to being out of the photo, it takes the focus off her face, and that's where I'd really like to see it.
Great shot none the less.

Still aliveby heidaComment by ellamay: Well, you've probably captured one of the biggest contrasts 'life' has to offer. I really like the distance of the man to the tombstones, And while I wish he were a little closer so I could see expression a bit more, he looks hesitant to me, as if death were perhaps contagious so not wanting to get too close. I think you have also done well to capture the pensive and reflectiveness one experiences while at a grave. nice work. |

Still aliveby heidaComment by johnmk: Good idea, I would have liked to see the man closer up in the picture (is this posed or a candid snapshot?) The concrete horizontal strip is not adding to the picture (more of the trees above might have done better). You should have come up with a better title than this one. |

Meltingby heidaComment by kyrielle: Is that a flower encased in ice and then melted? Or just set over ice? I'm a bit confused about the real-world setup of this photo - but the composition and the colors are lovely. I like the reflection, although the fact that it's somewhat doubled is a bit dizzying; my eyes struggle to bring the reflection clear (it almost seems like it should be), yet of course, can't, because it isn't. I like that tension, it's just a little disturbing at first glance. |

Meltingby heidaComment by Marjo: Nice reflection. The flower could be sharper but the effect is nice overall. |

Meltingby heidaComment by adine: Interesting reflection - I can;t figure out why it is doubled, or why the flower was frozen or is that broken glass? The colors and the light are glowing (good!) |

Flirtingby heidaComment by ursula: IMHO this shot was the best one in this challenge, I love the smile, the slightly soft focus, the excellent b/w, and it fit the challenge perfectly! |

Blackholeby heidaComment by DragonBro: You should have cleaned up the tire alittle bit, it would have made it much better. However I like the center of the tire and how no light shines through. |
