Converging Lightby MadMan2kComment by Kimberly75: I would love to know if you had to do anything special to make the street light to appear starlike, also love the angle of the shot. |

Windby MadMan2kComment by GeorgeLentz: I love the mood of this photo. The only thing that would make it great I beleive is if the top of the bridge was included. raising the camera to get the top would also clip out the very annoying lower right corner. It would have gotten 2 more full points then. Great work though. |

Streetby MadMan2kComment by MadMan2k: Thanks to everyone who left comments, and MattO for the critique. I had several other shots with only one rider in it, and ones that were better in focus, but I chose this one - I think the people in the background help the theme of City Life, and the composition of this one was more like you'd see in a BMX photo by someone who knew what they were doing (not to say that I do) than the others.
The focus and lighting, what can I say.. inexperienced, first time I'd shot BMX photos. |

Streetby MadMan2kComment by MattO: Hello and greetings from the Critique club. After spending some time viewing your photo I have some thoughts and suggestions. This is a nice stop action photo, with good colors and pretty good composition. Deciding if it met the challenge is a problem for some viewers. I think that city life for a lot of folks indicates large downtown metropolitan areas. However for myself living in a town of 6k thats not the case. I think you represent city life where you are rather well. Its well exposed and focus while not spot on, is pretty good.
On to things that could have improved the score. The composition is good but has some flaws. The 2 kids in the background distract from the main subject. The main subjects face is blocked by the right hand and handlebar. As I mentioned before focus is a little soft, but with a shot like that dead on focus is hard to achieve. Overall pretty well done. Good luck with future challenges. |

Speeding Colorby MadMan2kComment by C-town driver: Nice use of creative composition and shutter speed here. Your decision to angle the shot gives even more of a kinetic feel to the photo. IMHO I find the wire at the top of the shot distracting. But not sure you can get rid of that within the challenge's basic editing rules. Just my opinion, nice shot nonetheless.... 7 |

Speeding Colorby MadMan2kComment by ShotMD: I like the color and composition... the diagnal lines give the picture alot of energy. They don't, however, lead the eye anywere except out of the frame. Since it is advanced editing... I would also recomend cloning out the power line. Never the less... a good image and good use of shutter speed. |
