Marble statue,
marble ears,
in the midst of noise and chant.
but
the silent statue hears
what we can't:

steps of angels on the stone
angels talking on the phone
angels mixing up the drinks
all big smiles and tiny winks
baking cake
as angels make
kissing strangers
on the mouth
spreading good news
North and South
playing sparrow
through the pews
flying planes
so they don't crash...

Walls don't stop them
winds don't break them
shots don't take them
eyes don't see them
but
the statue with stone ears
works them out
from all she hears.

Looks like they are having a great conversation. Is the cop perhaps telling the stall owner that he is not allowed to sell his wares on the street like that without a licence?

silhouettes of spindly arms
hang delicately
with all of their charms

intricate and full of grace
