Uncle Bob did not believe in superstitions by MargaretNetComment by streetpigeon: Brilliant! The forceful lines, especially the vertical, section off the becoming, sinuous grain. Then, against this bizarre graph, out of a barrel planter, draped in what looks like ear buds, pops stony Uncle Bob, befuddled yet implacable. It's surreal in an intimate, almost natural way, unlike so much surrealism that depends on visual fireworks. Further adding to the disconjunction is the sense that Uncle Bob is a sea creature, head "bobbing" out of the ocean, wreathed in seaweed. Uncle Bob, you're a corker! The black and white treatment is perfect, sharp and moody. The subtle composition is quite satisfying.
Personally, I've been too busy to comment much at all, but it's a pleasure to express appreciation for this startling, vivid image. |
