I like the clarity of focus on the feathers of the bird, but I must say that I find the DOF distracting. Perhaps a slightly tighter crop to reduce the amount of blurred green would make the impact of the bird stronger.

Otherwise, I like the impact of the shot. The bird is well captured.

You have done well with quite a dull subject, but some nice new shiny bolts may have looked better and the right hand pic could have been made smaller to fit the egg shape border.

It's so hard to get them to hold still if there's any breeze at all...very nice job with the focus and exposure on the poppies (better than mine). I think I like the deep DOF on this image (grain, hill and clouds in reasonable focus) but it would be interesting to see a version with those highly blurred also...
