Good directional lighting. The sunlight on her hair is perfectly positioned to bring her out of the background. You really needed to add some diffused light to the front. If you dont have a flash you can provide some fill with. Run to the store and pick up one of them fold up reflectors for car windshields. Preferably one in gold and one in silver. Sit it in front of her and bring out some detail in the beautiful face, it will also add a bit of a catchlight in her eyes.

I like the backlighting and composition. Before I read your comments I was thinking that the red was boosted too much. Have you tried B&W on it?

It does look like the softening was a tad too much; there's too much of a difference in detail with her lips. She has a nice pose and her hair creates a nice natural border to her face. Maybe a 1/3 to 1/2 stop underexposed but it doesn't affect the shot much I find.

The skin to me looks a bit too red -- almost like a bad sunburn. I really like the expression on her face, and how it is framed/composed. Maybe a bw conversion would help even teh skin tones?

She's a very pretty girl.. no reason for being self-conscience. I really like the look on her face.. looks like someone told her something she doesn't quite believe. Kind of that Aw..C'mon look.. I like the smoothing you did.. the only thing that I see is her forehead seems to have a funny color, almost glowing. Otherwise, I really like it!
