it is such a powerful photograph .. i feel sad when i see animals in zoos and the apes seem to give me that feeling even more .. it could be that they have such expressive faces and i know that they are intelligent enough to really mourn the loss of their freedom .. :)

The Gorilla, like most great apes, is often seen as just another animal, yet every time I see one in pictures, I stop to stare. For whatever reason, they always strike me as having a greater humanity than even we, the humans, and sometimes I feel a tearing in my heart for the tragedy that it is we that rule the earth, and not they.
