Velvet Antlersby bobgaitherComment by jmsetzler: I saw your post in the forums about this photo and would like to comment... first of all, whether or not this is a 'difficult' or 'unique' photograph is basically irrelevant to the 'challenge' concept. I can see why you may have received comments on this issue. Even though it is very unusual that you were able to get this photo, it doesn't apply in the challenge. Even though these deer do have 'velvet' antlers, you can't see the texture of it in this photograph. Try to imagine this photograph with a title of "untitled" being entered in this texture challenge.... It's a case of the title saving the photo. The subject of the photo is not a 'texture' subject, even though it has texture... it's not readily visible to the viewer. You could have named this photo "the rough asphalt" or "tree leaves textures" or "fur texture" or anything else along those lines and gotten the same result. I'm sorry to hear that your luck with this image is not good this week :) = 5 - jmsetzler |

Velvet Antlersby bobgaitherComment by emorgan49: Perhaps the experience of photographing the deer was more exciting than the finished product. Too many distractions, like the white post and the wite lines and the guard rail that cuts off their feet. Also it seems crowded on the left. Could it have been cropped wider? Unfortunelately a photo is only as good as it's WORST element. |

Velvet Antlersby bobgaitherComment by Jonniboy: Well yes, they have velvet antlers but tat really isn't obvious from this picture. Focussing on the deer is pretty soft and composition could be better - they are both looking out of the frame in different directions which makes for a confusing picture and the right deer is very close to the edge of the shot. |

Velvet Antlersby bobgaitherComment by tjuneau13: nice photo, but it seems more incidental that you have captured the velvet antlers here. I just don't see the texture as the main focus - but give you points for getting a good shot = 4 |
