This is a new comment series for me, so please bear with me while I find my style!

(Voted earlier)

This is one of my 10s - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. John, really no one gets close to you for work like this. Many of us tried a couple of weeks ago and no one got anything like this. Your images might just be future classics.

2. For me, it's that glow you get in your image that fascinates - I've tried to emulate it and I never get it right.

3. What a character, what a scene - he's shambolically cool! With that pose, he could earn a living as a model!

4. The light is fabulous, catching his face while allowing the alcove to fall into heavy shadow.

5. The cluster of pigeons and the one on his arm are fabulously engaging and take the image beyond a 'simple' candid portrait.

Overall, you give us yet another opportunity to witness your wizardry!

Voted earlier coming back to comment.

The B&W tones are great. The juxtaposition of the two elements here makes an interesting visual commentary on life. The man in the backdrop has come down the stairs and has the has his hand to his head. That emotive gesture could be a sign of despair or an expression of tiredness (wiping the brow after being winded). Nonetheless he has undergone a 'decline' - climbing down the stairs. The cat on the other hand is in a relaxed state but also is in a decline. The cat's position lying on the car is facing on the decline. Perhaps the 'life' of the cat is on the decline as well with advanced years.

And how the cat stays there is a marvel of modern physics. Perfectly balanced photograph, between the ease of the cat and the unease of the human. Even the bits of light are perfectly balanced.

Congrats John. I'm not sure that he is bringing a welcome message, as he looks a bit like the grim reaper, but it's a fantastic image nevertheless. I agree with the earlier comment about it being nice to see a bit of color in some of your recent images.

I'm torn between wanting to watch kitty slide of the roof, and figuring out why that man is holding his head....
