The Girlby prashant_168Comment by Maggye: I thinks is a lovely picture, I do agree with other about the ball taking attention away from her. I have taken lots of pictures of my daughter, she is 2 years old, and I know how hard is to get that eye contact with the camera, though most of the time I'll try to get her looking at the camera, there are some other pictures, like this one, I think even without that eye contact it shows off her sweetnes and personality at that point in her life. So bottom line, Great work! |

The Girlby prashant_168Comment by Covert_Oddity: In response to your thread, I would probably have scored this 5, perhaps lower. To me the picture is lacking interest. I have no connection with the child, so like others have said, it feels like a family snapshot.
The ball is also just in the way, it serves no context, if you were at the beach for instance, that would be different, but as it stands it's just a colourful out of focus toy taking attention away from the main subject.
Eye contact is also important, a close to impossible task with children I know, but it also contributes to the lack of interest / connection people felt with the shot. |

The Girlby prashant_168Comment by PapaBob: Under appreciated yes, but I am sure the child's parents love the shot. Personally I love the DOF of the shot and think it is very well done but unless it is your child voters tend to not be as excited about it as you would if you know the child. It is a shame the quality of an image does not mean as much as the first impression an image gives off in the 5 seconds a viewer will typically give the image. |
