I've been to Japan several times and there a special socks (tabi) which are worn with their traditional shoes (geta). Ad these tabi socks also work perfectly with flip flops!

This picture is on fire with joy and energy and the blouse in red and blue makes the connection to Independence Day. I would give a 10 if the quailty was better - looks a bit too much sharpened to me. But the moment is captured perfectly!

I wrote a comment a few days ago but somehow it vanished...well here it is again:
When I was looking at your essay I was surprised about the variety in the different pictures. Some scenes are quite rural like the cobblestones, some seem purely urban. I have to admit that it' hard for me to see all of them as an unity. I reality is not a wishing well, isn't it? Some if the pictures I like extremely well - especially the vertical ones which are much stronger imho
