I tried something similar myself last year with our Christmas tree at home but it turned out lousy in comparison...maybe I'll post it nevertheless to keep this thread on the front page.

What a shame they don't put up the tree any more. What is the reason? The costs?
Where I live there is a nice Christmas tree at the city centre in front of the town hall. It's not spectacular, but it gives a nice atmosphere. Two years ago some vandals cut off the top at nighttime - two days before Christmas Eve. Isn't that a senseless and barbaric act? This caused a discussion if or if not the tree was set up next time. I'm glad the pro's were in a majority.

it's indeed not difficult once you figured it out.
Maybe it's easier when you press F11 and/or diminish the zoom of your monitor view to get the full view

this is a lovely scene - would like to go hiking there at once! I also like the snow frosting ;-)
Unfortunately this one seems a little bit out of focus, might be an effect of resizing. So the other one was the better choice
