Good idea and well done!
The blunt pencils being subject is well in focus, while the work is lightly blurred.
The angle of pencils and draker colored background draws you to negitive space between to two,at the bluntpoint of the pencils.

I think JMO you might have problem with the compostion. There is no set pattern or rhythm to your image other than the star layout.
Main object has unequal spacing.
Perhaps a higher POV would have helped also. Maybe a shot from above the image. that way you could have used your DOF to keep everything more focused.

Imo this was very nicely done. It shows your Imagination, and creative skills well.
A touch of light from the left could have brought more color to the crayon, and some good highlights that might have made the color bolder.
Good crop, keeps attention on main part of photo.
I do not understand the low scores?
Completely meets challenge critera.

Hi,I'm am a member of the Critique club.

Life being the title , I feel you have some deep feelings about this image. Although I myself can not make the connection.
That may also lead to confusion with others as to the point your trying to make.

I like the color composition, the colors used work well to complement each other.
The reflective surface is lost in the DOF and there is no definite edge that seperates the true image from the reflection.
Also the reflection is a bit burry. I would have liked to seen more of the pencil sharpener in the reflection this may have helped the image not to seem as flat.

The coil of the shavings work to draw your eye into where the action is taking place, This is a good thing!

The image does meet the challenge Criteria., without question.
