Masterby wardsworldComment: Nice shot - apart from what looks like some bizarre artificial motion blur. It seems as if his arms the ball and club are all moving in one lateral 90 degree direction while his head is pin sharp. Were you using an ND filter or is it PS? I dunno but I get the feeling that this would have looked better as stopped motion. Would like to see the original as you'd have a great capture of the great man here. |

skateboard acrobaticsby BeetleComment: Nice capture - framing could have been better, with more of the bowl and and a tighter crop on the right (less bland sky). |

Audi UR Quattro Actionby David-SComment: Dull conditions but a technically proficient shot. I'd like to see the composition tighter to the car though, as there's not much need for the extra context. The action is not so extreme either, but more ordinary speed. |

Flying Without Wingsby scottwilsonComment: A very unaesthetic background but an excellent piece of stopped motion. Beautiful creature at full stretch, showing lots of muscular tension. |

Safe Landingby loudzgamerComment: Great action and capture. I'd like to have seen this in portrait format with the whole shadow. |

Photo---3yellow-spider.jpgby gwendyComment: Wonderful creatures, spiders. This one is great. The flash has killed some definition though so a tripod or very steady hand would be better so that you can use natural light.
- Just realised there may be no flash - so moving lower would avoid the abdominal highlights.

Wrong!by langdonComment: Nice cropping to change the meaning and intention of the statement. To make this more impactful, I think a longer DOF would allow us to see how the word relates in the irony of the following words. |

Jokby sofapComment: Fantastic depth, light and technique - this is a truly rich and fulfilling portrait.
I do agree that this doesn't immediately communicate 'Best Friends' but really, who cares? The challenges are there for competition but portfolios are what really count.
My view is that if your challenge entry can't communicate the theme at first glance (without a title) then it won't fair too well with those who vote the theme element highly.
Edit: I do find that border a bit overpowering though Message edited by author 2005-04-15 18:09:06. |
