I've just got back from here! This view will remain with me for ever. It's a bit of a shame about all the shadow over El Capitan but it also adds scale to the scene as it shrouds the valley beneath. Hope to see more shots from your visit. (And ain't those roads long and twisty!!). :)

New Look at an Old Tower

Is this San Fran? Lighting is a bit dull and the interesting features at the top of this tower are lost (if it's the fire hose nozzle monument!). It's a strong angle though.

Your title states the obvious! This is a great shot requiring no words. Lovely focus from front to back and an interesting view.

Shooting into the light though has caused overexposure in the sky and peaks.

This is a bit underexposed but it had me attentive. I didn't notice the person immediately, but on closer viewing it does look a little staged. This individual is wearing clean trainers & clothes, and has none of the usual apparel associated with a homeless person bedding down.

Although it seems like picking nits, it does matter considering the point you're making.

Amazingly 'dark' capture of the lightning while retaining plenty of detail in the foreground. There appears to be no ambient glow around the bolt at all. Interesting scene and structure.

Nice viewpoint but not a lot of interest otherwise. It lacks a key focal point to latch onto. Waiting for an early or late time of the day would have prevented the overexposure of the path and balustrade - and could have generated more atmosphere with warmer light.
