Fallen Leavesby agwrightComment: Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced
Challenge link: weak. The impressionistic theme is not very apparent here.
Image critique: it's a soothing subject with subdued colours, well shot - but lacking that vital focal point to draw in a viewer.
Out-of-challenge appeal: not much reason to come back to this really.
Score: 4 |

A Pale View Of The Hillsby e301Comment: Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced
Challenge link: very strong - a great interpretation both as a concept and execution.
Image critique: just a lovely, creative notion, nicely treated and ambiguous.
Out-of-challenge appeal: I love it, so will enjoy revisiting this image.

Challenge link: very strong and my tip for a ribbon - probably blue.
Image critique: the painterly feel of this is very tangible and as such makes for a beautiful artistic approach without complete sacrifice of the original photo. The escence of the scene in reality is still ever-present, further enhanced by your sensitive post-processing.
Out-of-challenge appeal: total - will revisit for sure.

Lumiere de bougieby graphicfunkComment: Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced
Challenge link: medium, but more digital in its appearance than photographic. While I like the effect, it is an emulation of a painting style than a photographic representation of the subject through impressionistic technique (composition and subject).
Image critique: a good exposure and nice lighting, but difficult to assess since much of the integrity has been losty through the filtered effects and it seems that, to a large extent, you've missed the point here.
Out-of-challenge appeal: it's a sumptous, Christmasy vibe, but there's not much interest for me to revisit frequently.

Challenge link: weak. Possibly missed the point of the challenge - there's no impressionism here.
Image critique: very pretty little shot with nice detail. Background is distracting though due to the dark mark which is very prominent. Good composition otherwise.
Out-of-challenge appeal: OK - but not much to come back for really.

The Fountainby autoolComment: Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced
Challenge link: weak - medium. Due to filtered FX this shot no longer holds enough photographic integrity to prove its impressionistic quality. Image has been too heavily enhanced in post-processing.
Image critique: a good composition but very little to retain interest.
Out-of-challenge appeal: not much, other than to see whose this is!
Score: 4 |

Christmas Spiritby BobsterLobsterComment: Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced
Challenge link: weak-medium. It does seem to have largely missed the brief.
Image critique: A sweet scene with much Christmas spirit, nicely composed with some good detail and appropriate treatment.
Out-of-challenge appeal: not much for me.
Score: 4 |

The Artist by scalvertComment: Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced
Challenge link: strong - if a little tacky.
Image critique: well conceived and executed. Photo does look a bit 'ordinary' though - can't quite put my finger on it. Technically good shot and you've thought it through well.
Out-of-challenge appeal: I'm sure they'll be plenty, but I don't need to come back to this one really.
Score: 7 |

November Dreamsby jbsmithanaComment: :: Hello from the Critique Club ::
............................................................
Challenge link: the title is a little misleading really (apart from connecting with your soft focus),but otherwise it meets the challenge in the sense that it's relatively open as to what November represents. It is not what I'd call stereotypical of the month though.
Image critique: as Moodville has stated below the framing has left a bit of a void. The soft focus seems more like a bit of image salvage to me (making some interest from unexciting scene or muted lighting). It does however have charm and the interest of the gull is its key. The juniper is a good tree and its texture and windswept style adds some much needed feature the photo.
Out-of-challenge appeal: not much due to the lack of good lighting and 'wow' factor.
---
Possible improvements when shooting a scene like this would be to get in closer on the subject with more detail and possibly to try mono, since the colour is minimal anyway.
Hope this helps
Cheers
