You asked for an indepth review of your shot in this challenge.
First off, good idea! YOu are nicely sharpened on the main focal point in your shot. Your colours are good too,
I scored fairly low on this shot in the challenge and here are the reasons why.
I think this could have been shot just a little bit more diffently to give it more interest. In teh comments, this has been addressed too. Having the shot not in the center helps. Here is one I did of your shot (completely illegal though as I cloned. Now as you can see, with this being off center, it does actually draw your eye more to the subject and check it out some more. It gets rid of the white brightness at the top of your shot. Having a black piece of cloth or paper behind this would have helped with that brightness as well and given you a more solid background. Play around with angles when you are shooting something, shoot with it in the corners with lots of negative space, zoom right in etc etc.
The smoke that is coming out is also interesting in this shot and with a darker background would have stood out more.
All in all, you did well Message edited by author 2009-08-27 12:48:43. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

You asked for a more in depth comment on your photo.
You have some lovely shades of pink going on here, very clean colours.
The flower is coming across as a more red colour than pink, but it is complimenting the other pinks that you have going on here.
You are tack sharp, clarity is great. Now teh glass is tilted and that would cost you a few points right there, try straighteneing it up some, I am thinking that a portrait shot would have given you more negative space and looked stunning as well, with this it is a little too near the center, try moving the glass or cropping it on the right hand side.
Other than that, a great shot. |

Nice shot of appliances here.
I think that I am one of those ones that didn't really feel your reflections so much. I saw the oven, then all I saw and what kept drawing my eye was the electrical plug and wall. Repositioning the toaster could have eliminated this . having the toaster on the edge of the counter would have given you the whole reflection of the oven versus it just being cut off in the middle of the toaster and leaving dead space there,
Your ISO is way up there and accounts for the grain that I am seeing also, try a faster shutter speed or more light. The reflection of the power cord is a little distracting and could have been laid more flat and even mroe in focus.
Your POV is great, your DOF is good also, overall this is a good clean shot of an appliance, well done | Photographer found comment helpful. |

You asked for an in depth comment on your recent photograph in this challenge. I gave you a 6 in this challenge and these are some of the reasons why,
The lighting is fairly hash in this and the reflections are hard light. A different crop, ie closer to the subject would have helped this as well , because as of right now it is just sort of sitting in mid air. Your clarity is spot on , you are sharp in all the right places.
I do not think that there is much that you could do in post processing. I think this could have been all done in the set up of the shot. Do not be afraid to try different or odd angles, throw something into the mixer like flour and see what happens.
Over all a good product shot though | Photographer found comment helpful. |

You have an excellent shot here. I like the fact that you have something other than just pink.
But that being said, there really isn't enough pink in this. The challenge description was for you to shoot primarily a pink subject. I believe that is the reason that you scored as you did and the lack of comments.
It is not exaclty the easiest subject to shoot when it could fly off at any moment though.
In post processing , some unsharp mask would have helped here as it does seem a little soft, I notice also that you have a high ISO which could explain the grain that I am seeing. The black background is taking away from this shot as well.
You have an amazing detail in the right eye of some pink being reflected. So another angle or more of the pink would have helped to score you higher | Photographer found comment helpful. |

I gave this shot an 8 whilst in voting, here is why.
The shot is sharp and crisp, the details are finely tuned. The pov is excellent, not something you see when you think of portraits angles. Your pinks are spot on, well done. The only thing I would have done differently would be to crop it a little tighter on the right hand side to get rid of the dead space there.
I am not sure why the voting was all over the place in this challenge, I can see you got 2-3's and 4, your comments are all good. I think you did well congrats!

You asked for an in depth comment on your shot! I was one of your 7's in this shot and here is the reason why.
I liked that you thought out of the boxx in this one, it is just not the shell or the cup. you saw two objects and realized that they complimented each other. The round smooth curves of each of them lend the selves to this shot. There are several things that could have been done a little differently though that may have helped your score somewhat.
In post processing, boosting the exposure, brightness will have helped with the white that is a little grey here. Unsharp Mask would have made this a little sharper. I see that you ISO is very high and this accounts for the grain that can be seen. A faster shutter speed of more natural light would have helped this .
You did well with the shadows they are soft and inviting, well done!

I was one of your high voters in this challenge and here is why
I liked the POV that you had going on here, I like that you went from the ground up versus straight on. You took time out to look at your subject and knew it would need a different angle to make it work.
I think what is hurting it here is the crop, which could have been a lot tighter on the left hand side, to give it a right in your face look, the wheel that is cut off in the front and the darkness of the shot,
The pink is perfect, your sharpness is spot on, clarity and DOF is good. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
