This is my first attempt at a studio type set up picture. In the absence of a flash I used a small desk lamp with a snoot made of black construction paper. ISO 100 to keep the noise down due to the long exposure (20s), and a remote shutter release to avoid camera shake.

This mixer makes at least one batch of cookies a week, and is a champ at making it easy.

Hi from the C Club

You asked for an in depth comment on your recent photograph in this challenge. I gave you a 6 in this challenge and these are some of the reasons why,

The lighting is fairly hash in this and the reflections are hard light. A different crop, ie closer to the subject would have helped this as well , because as of right now it is just sort of sitting in mid air. Your clarity is spot on , you are sharp in all the right places.

I do not think that there is much that you could do in post processing. I think this could have been all done in the set up of the shot. Do not be afraid to try different or odd angles, throw something into the mixer like flour and see what happens.

Over all a good product shot though

Too centered.. could have benefitted from an interesting angle; though the lighting is well done.

I think that this is one time where a less traditional angle would have added significant feeling and character to the image. Although it is a good, sharp image, it just doesn't hold my attention or make me want to linger.

Nice lighting. I like how it is harsher than a normal product shot. It gives it some pop. Best title I have seen in a long time.

Nice comp and lighting, but the image is a bit boring, I wish there was something being "mixed"..or maybe shot from a different angle...6

a good sujet but you should have darkened it a bit more to make ALL detail in the background disappear. the light is a bit harsh. the cord should either be invisible or be extended... like this it's distracting, 7
