Selective desaturation should not be a remedy for a bad and cluttered composition. The photo doesn't really tell any kind of story to me or interest me. Why on earth did you colour in the table?

The photo would be much stronger if the hand was in focus. And a braver shot if the eyes were open. The background is a bit distracting. Composition feels a little unbalanced, I feel the face should have been more to the left.

Beautiful shot, I just wish you'd captured all of his left hand. Ugly watch, shame about that! Otherwise, it's a nice, crisp capture of a tender moment. The light from the back is good. It could have done with a tighter crop at the top of the frame. However, this man and his dog aren't exceptional enough to make this a really striking photo.

Terrible light, avoid midday. Photo is wonky. A square crop can't rescue a composition which is not strong. Not enough of a sense of story... the viewer needs more clues as to what they're staring at. Hands can be one of the strongest and most expressive part of a person. Look at the hands of the kid in red... you've chopped them off!

Composition doesn't quite work for me. The shot is wonky and the bottles right by the face takes away from her expression. The eye finds it hard to know where to settle and what to focus on. The shot needs more of a sense of story.

Would work better if we could see some faces. There's very little emotion and character in this shot. A kid is tying a shoelace! That's pretty mundane.

A small child staring straight at the camera. Not a candid.

I'm not sure that someone performing really counts as a candid. He's expecting attention and photos.

The problem with candids sometimes is to avoid the photo looking like it was taken by a private detective. You know what I mean, you see them in films when someone is stalking his subject. I think there's a certain expression that people have that result in photos with this feel. Go for people with amazing expressions who are experiencing strong emotions.

Composition feels too unbalanced. The baby on the left feels accidental rather than deliberate. Same with the person in the background. The light and table is nice though!
