This looks pretty seriously composited together (which counts as spot-editing, doesn't it?)

Great focus. The colors could be a little more saturated, and if it were bigger (and therefore more detailed), it might well have knocked my socks *entirely* off, instead of only partway. I do know how hard it is to get good, in-focus nature shots, though. 8.

Nice composition and motion capture! Dramatic. Looks almost postcardy, except for the exact subject with the orange and the splash, of course. 8.

Great concept, good lighting, great focus and DOF. It makes one confront the reality of an everyday object in a way we might not have, before.

A fairly straightforward macro shot of a blossom. There's nothing that particularly excites me about it, but it's executed in a very technically-proficient way, so I have to give props for that. :-> Good color contrasts, dramatic lighting, good choice of focus. 8.

It's a good documentary photograph of that particular flower, or even the species, but nothing makes it particularly 'pop' for me.

This would be a generic macro head-on shot of a flower, but the gutsy crop and nice focus and colors and lighting make it something a little special. 8.

A very straightforward, head-on macro shot of a blossom (or, in this case, a cluster of buds). There's nothing that particularly excites me about it, but it's executed in a very technically-proficient way, so I have to give props for that. :-> Would make a good mousepad or coaster, I think. Nice tight focus, even down to defining those white granules, but there's no one thing really to look at. If one of the pinkish buds were open, the single flower might well have given it the 'pop' it needs.
