You captured the detail on this tulip. The coloring is interesting. The background works as a natural back drop.
I agree that the crop is a little tight. But it's not major, more of a personal preference.
I think zoomed out or taking a step back, would have produced a better result.
Over all it's still a nice picture. Kind of like an identification picture in a flower book.

A very straightforward, side-on macro portrait shot of a blossom. There's nothing that particularly excites me about it, but it's executed in a very technically-proficient way, so I have to give props for that. :-> |

really great job on the focus. i think the crop is too tight though. and i also like the background. 6 |

Lovely tulip. I think it would be stronger with an out of focus background. I usually try these shots in aperture priority and vary the aperture over a wide range to see what works best. |

The small purple plants in the background are distracting and take away from the impact of the soft coloured solitary tulip. Would a different vantage point have given a less distracting background? |
