The Witness of a fallen Empireby ahmadbaaraComment: An interesting scene, the colors come off to me as a little dull and orangey, however. I think this might have been a great candidate for a nice strong b/w treatment. |

Summer Shadeby GregoryBComment: It's nice looking as an illustration, I like the way the leaves stand out against the background. If I look at this as a photo, it looks a bit unnatural. (As if overprocessing is an uncommon thing around here, right?) Not sure... |

Stand Against Fading Lightby photomill31Comment: This seems blurred and unclear. I think most of it is due to the use of excessive JPEG compression. I can also see some artifacts around the edges of the silhouette. Your file size of only 76k indicates a highly compressed image and that is what is robbing most of the detail and sharpness from this image. Check your compression settings when you save your file. Always adjust JPEG compression so that your file size is as large as possible, but within the challenge limit. (200k for this one) |

Fighting for Survivalby nidiciComment: I like the texture of the sandy soil here. The wisp of a tree doesn't really stand out from that background much. |

There I Stood...by PBJComment: Nice negative space that leads my eye to the tree. The tree itself seems like it may be a touch oversharpened. |

Marley & Me Star Sightingby TheStickComment: To answer your forum question, I think you entered the right one. The crop was unusual, but it worked for me and was interesting. I gave it a 6. I can see from the breakdown that a lot of people were ho-hum about it, however. I don't think I would have voted better for the outtake, but you may have gotten fewer of the really low votes and averaged better with it. |

Pup Starby AnimeSecondToNoneComment: Well, at least you got a brown ribbon out of your first challenge, (and you learned about white balance!) No place to go but up now! Welcome to the madhouse that is DPC! |

Hey, it's not my thing either. You missed the brown, though! |

Tessaby tryingtostayinfocusComment: Watch that setting of F1.8, it has almost NO depth of field at that aperture and such a close range. |
