but mischievous and humorous, with sparklng shining eyes and a warmth that you captured here, using your skills to show us this about him, rather than fabricate it with with technique and lighting. Portraiture has the added obstacle that the person is a stranger: many portraits are technically perfect, but no real connection is made. This portrait reveals and presents charisma, chemistry, appeal. I want to know what he is thinking at this moment, what he would say if he could suddenly start speaking right from this image.

You already know that the technicals here are perfect, from the conversion, lighting, tones, dof--clear expertise is evident here.

So very well done: Imposing, dramatic, tones/textures are spot on and tack sharp. 10

Wow. There is so much right with this image, too long to list. Might be easier to point out a couple of flaws. Except there aren't any! Leading lines, both bold and subtle, guide the eye effortlessly. She is luminous, both in her own lighting, and perfectly backlit where necessary. The tones are perfect, and you have managed to make brown water beautiful. I think the formal photographic terminology here is "Now, that's just showing off!"

question: what is the vertical thing she appears to be holding? I want to say it is a riding crop, but that would be a tad kinky, right? Not that there is anything wrong with that :-)

I love this sort of image! This is so well done, with the bold lined, deep shadows, tack sharp texture, and luminous conversion. I might crop in from the left just slightly, just enough to remove the highlighted sliver of area in the lower left, or maybe burn it down a bit. Or I might not. 9

I am a total sucker for these sorts of images, and often attempt them myself (with substantially less success). There seems to be a little zig-zag artifacting happenin, either from the sharpening, resizing, or something. The tones and conversion are wonderful and luminous. I like the lines, composition very much. 9

beautifully done--obviously a beautiful subject, but in addition you have a great pose, beautiful lighting, and you made use of the textures in the sweater to guide the eye without overpowering the image. The tones, conversion are wonderful, Her eyes, skin, hair are just wonderfully done.

some might question the long strand of hair, but I think it is great: it echos the line of her outer arm, and continues the leading line from her lower arm--whether it is fortuitous and you kept it, or you saw a need and went over and pulled a strand down, kudos to you--either way, a great decision.

A wonderful image. I am not anti-border in principle, but I find this border to be distracting. It really draws the eye to the border with that dominating, bright color, and doesn't really accent the small reddish elements in the image itself. A pure black border, or no border, would serve this very nice image much better, in my opinion. 6
