Incredible rhyming of rectangular windows and fence divisions with the straight umbrella sticks and the curved railing elements with the umbrella tops makes a strong visual setting for the rhythm of heavy rain hitting the water. Wondering why anyone (or any group) would be out walking in this wetness launches complex branching internal narrative, as happens with the best of art.

Somehow this reminds me of "still life" paintings that include dead rabbits on the table along with other objects. This gracefully escapes from the eye-candy approach to art. I would hang this in a commercial art gallery and put a high price on it, perhaps with a different title.

Although some might have approached this with a black and white treatment to take advantage of the lush variations in luminosity, sticking with color and highlighting the range from cyan through subtle orange works very well. The composition generates a sense of a remote, exotic, and perhaps lonesome setting that nevertheless possesses a special beauty.

Yes, a bird in flight despite the psychedelic surroundings, making an emotional impact befitting an art challenge. The unusual color choices work well here and giving additional interest to the unique and stunning image.

Dream or nightmare or elements of both - the image evokes a sense of unreality in which core feelings and ideas anchor us more than subject and object in ordinary worlds. Element of flight, subtly light, contrast objectively and conceptually with the darker elements. High art. High score.

No Time For "Goodbye"

This is one of my two favorites in the challenge. The bright bird feathers evoke the idea of freedom to leave undesired circumstances, while the wood grain patterns provide an anchor to mundane reality. Dark background is uniform enough to simplify the image, allowing us to focus on the bird and dried leaf/twig. Scratchy texture provides a sort of graphic interest, but may not have been necessary.
