Current Economyby ElaineComment: it *almost* looks oversharpened. Otherwise, I like the lighting and composition. |

Donutsby suemackComment: I read your sign as 2 donuts for 10 dollars or 3 for 16. I was wondering who on earth would pay over 5 dollars for a single doughnut. d'oh. got it now. |

Peeledby LouisaComment: CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

Compositionally, I like this shot. The full bowl of fruit balances nicely with the pieces of peelings on the right. I also like how you have chosen to crop/frame the shot so that the entire bowl isn't included -- this makes it feel more dynamic to me.
Technically, I like the clean-ness of the shot. It seems a bit bright or high key, and on this monitor, it makes it seem as if some of the details are not as visible. The result is then that those spots look "soft" or unfocused. This is especially true on the inside of the peelings, and the parts of the peeling left on the fruit. It also has a slight pinkish cast to it, but that could be this monitor.
Overall, an interesting idea on the challenge, and a well done shot.

Chalk it up to Childhoodby dahvedComment: CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

What a beautiful little girl. I really like the natural expression on her face.
Compositionally, I like that her face and the drawing somewhat balance each other without one overpowering the other. It might be a bit stronger if her body and the drawing formed more of an angle in the frame rather than a straight-ish line, but it still seems very well balanced. The crop feels a touch tight to me. Maybe if just a touch was shaved off of the top, or if there were more space on the left it would open things up a bit.
Technically, it is well focused and well-exposed. The critical details are visible without blowing anything or losing details anywhere. It feels a touch flat to me, but that may be from the dominance of the pavement she is on. Maybe a touch more contrast or shadows/highlights could help alleviate the flatness.
Overall, a good shot that meets the challenge in a relaxing, pleasant way.

Evening Snackby Bear_MusicComment: The reds are a bit hot or oversaturated, given it some red noise or artifacts. Otherwise, a nice shot. |
