The Cliché Color: White by a1leyez0nm3Comment: CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

Oh, wow. Not a lot I can say to improve this one. A very nicely done shot.
COMPOSITION
I think the fact that the horizon is not on a third works okay here. The trees extend upwards past the horizon, and it is not so noticeable. It still has a very balanced, and stable feeling to it. The trees really serve well to capture the eyes and pull them up into the frame. Especially effective is the row on the left side. Also the "humps" of snow add interest and give the picture some motion.
TECHNIQUE
Beautiful focus and I really like the simplicity of colors. You are commended especially on getting the snow to look white. If I could change anything about this shot, I would like to see it with more blue in the sky. Obviously, you are not God, so you didn't have any control of that, but if you could use photoshop and add some more blue there (for reasons other than dpc), this shot would be near perfect in my opinion.
OVERALL EFFECT
Again, this shot is wonderful, and is so peaceful and serene. I bet the rest of the scenary was equally as beautiful. Sorry I can't add anything to make it better. You have an awesome shot here! |

Save My Childby hardwaybetsComment: As a picture, I really like the simple contrast of the blue and green. As a stature, this is particularly disturbing (not in a bad way, but in a thought provoking way) and I would like to know more about it. |

COMPOSITION
The composition of this is very strong. The placement of the swan gives an excellent focal point, and the "swoop" of the paper gives the picture a nice amount of "movement."
TECHNIQUE
You have done the white on white well. It did take me a bit to figure out that the background was a piece of the "before" paper, so it may need a little more contrast. Though I really like the peacefulness of the solid white, I am wondering what it would have looked like if it had been white paper, white swan, on a different colored background. It may have ruined the effect, but it may have helped with the contrast issue. The focus is wonderful, and it is lit well, I think.
OVERALL EFFECT
As stated previously, the white on white is very peaceful, and that is emphasized by the gracefulness of the swan. These elements couple together to give this a very elegant, graceful look. I am truly surprised it didn't score even higher, but some voters may have missed what the paper was in the background.
Good work. |

A Bugs Lifeby Fibre OptixComment: Great symmetry. Did you want the sun in the shot like that, or could you ahve moved some so that it wasn't? Wonderful, simple colors. |

Arlington Winterby BAMartinComment: It is cool how the tombs in the foreground look like they are swallowed by the earth. Great work at keeping the snow white and not blue! |
