Mountain Light by dsidwellComment: David,
Sorry I didn't get around to commenting on this during the challenge. It was one of quite a few tens I gave. Stunning work as usual :) |

An oldie but a goodie!by aKiwiComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi aKiwi...
This image seems to meet the challenge well and it received a good average score in the end. Critique on this one is a bit difficult. I can't say that I would change anything about it. It appears that you achieved your objective. There is nothing that could be added or removed that would make a significant change in the presentation.
Now, from a personal standpoint...
What WAS your objective with this photo? Is it a design for the sole purpose of the challenge? What does the image say to you? What does it say about you? Is there emotional value here? Is music a part of your personality?
Keep up the good work :)

Shower Windowby torrenzanoComment: Greetings...
This is excellent work. It's moody and the abstract nature of it adds quite a bit to that theme. The 'bloody' hand creates some nice tension and adds a some mystery to the storyline. = 10 |

Rainy Daysby mariomelComment: This is a great image. In fact, it's my favorite of the week :) I never get tired of this theme, and when you couple it with a nice contraty black and white, I can't resist.
This photo reminds me of my younger years before I ever started school. Rainy days were the worst. I can specifically remember standing at the window looking out and seeing the trees in the yard through the wet glass.
Excellent work...

Run Alejandro, runby jealbornComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Jealborn :)
The motion blur in this image is nice. As stated in my original comment, the composition is not comfortable. Cutting off the feet just makes it feel cramped and awkard. I think this image could be greatly improved with a wider view.

Overwhelmedby jpochardComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Jpochard...
This is indeed an interesting concept :) 1" is a pretty long shutter speed for a shot of this type, but you seem to have pulled it off rather nicely :) I think you have conveyed a feeling of a headache very well. I can feel the world spinning around me and empathize with the pressure from this photo.
As stated in my original comment, I gave this photo a 5. I think it could be improved in several ways. After seeing your method and camera settings, I can probably say that 1" may have been more than necessary. I don't know if you tried 1/4 and 1/2, but it may have been worth while. I don't think the background blur needs to be particularly extreme to convey this feeling that you have presented here. It may have also reduced the amount of post processing required to finish the shot. My Sony 707 made really nice images at ISO 100, but this one seems a bit noisy in the background, and that may have come from the post processing of the levels and color.
This is indeed an excellent idea. I think you should pursue it again and try to perfect it :)
