This is certainly a cute photo. As an outsider, this photo doesn't hold much appeal to 'me'. This is a relatively common type of family photo and it doesn't hold any specific qualities that would draw me in as an outsider.

I'm having a problem finding anything particularly interesting in this composition. Maybe if it was not underexposed, the muscle/texture detail would be a stronger element of the image. The color itself is not really strong enough to support the entire theme.

This is a neat high key concept. However, the high key nature of it seems to be contradictory to the theme of the shot. "Defeat" or despair... death... depression... whatever may be implied here is normally associated with negativity and darkness. Just something to think about when you are promoting an idea :) If the elements of the composition are supportive of that theme rather than contradictory, your idea may be better received....
