Solitudeby moodvilleComment: There are some great portraits in this challenge. Even though I have given several tens this week, I think this is my overall favorite. I think you captured a perfect moment with this photograph. This chip seems to be sad, and having the fence visible in this shot really supports that theme with a lot of strength. - Best of show |

I'm asking myself what element(s) of this portrait make me care about this person. The backlighting feels particularly harsh. |

Hypnotic Stare by librodoComment: This is an excellent portrait. I like the wind-blown hair. Having her hand in the frame seems to add something for me as well. I don't really know what it is but it works.

Waiting for the Lightby bobgaitherComment: This is a nice black and white. I particularly like the shapes and the textures moreso than the subject itself. The composition here feels slightly 'squeezed'. I don't know if it was possible or not, but creating a little breating room on all sides of this light fixture could possibly create something even stronger. I'm estimating that you are probably hearing comments about how this meets the challenge as well so I won't expand on that. I think it's a great image :) = 8 |

Fireby MonaComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Mona :)
Fire is such a curious thing to me. It's fun to watch it dance. The dance changes as the flames consume their prey. Their shapes and textures are in a constant state of change. Their dances are mesmerising and they radiate a passion and warmth to the audience. I find the sight and sounds of fire to be relaxing in a way. Sometimes, the aromas, coupled with the visual stimulation, are just what I need as company on a winter night.
Beautiful photo :)
