Sorry to blow your "no comments" on this shot. It took me a while to figure out what it was - at first it looked like an abstract of the back side of a woman in a pink dress (mid-back down), with her arms hanging at either side. The laser pointer adds an interesting effect.

Very nice image, and very interesting voting curve. I think your score suffered from the "not what I expected, and different from all the other entries" syndrome.
The lines are very nice, but for me, it is the bright colors that make the shot (bright, in comparison with each other). Perhaps another way of saying it is that the colors are not all from the same color family, and provide a jumpy feel that contrasts with the smooth lines' flowing feel.

The End of the Lines

Congratulations on the blue! I agree with JuliBoc's comment. Wonderful lines, light, and texture. In addition, there are zero distractions from the leading lines. I think the arch above the sealed opening gives just that extra twist to make it a tad unusual and adds a lot of interest. What's behind the "door"? I want to know! Well seen.

I pretty much agree with the other comments - hammer "in motion" would have helped, intense blue background, over-intense lighting, etc.
But for me, it is the inconsistencies in the image that make that tiny shade of difference between good and great. For example, it isn't the blue that is the problem, it is that the blue takes the image out of the realm of reality; it is that the blue's interaction with the gold of the piggy and the almost-too-red tone of the hammer don't quite mesh nicely.
Also, you have a shiny piggy bank with a non-shiny hammer. Contrasting materials can be used to great effect, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
Your above 5.5 score accurately reflects the crispness of the image, good lighting, lack of harsh shadows, and many other elements your image absolutely nails.

Nice story picture - all the clues are present to figure out what is going on, and the image is nicely presented. Just about anyone who has ever run out of gas can relate to the shot (except, unless I'm an exception, most of us didn't have that handy empty gas can in the car - no, that would have been too prepared!)
