Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see the checkmate. The tops of the black queen & pawn get lost in the black background. Most of the pieces are out of focus - not a deal killer with this shot, but it needs a counterbalance which is not present.

Nice star effect on star - bottom edge of moon is a bit washed out (low on detail). Isn't that three of these shots in this challenge? (And I thought I had an original idea...)

This would be more effective with a tighter crop - you could easily lose the empty brown foreground, and the dark left 1/3. This could also use something in the lighting department - your subject is a common, ordinary item, so it needs something to attract and hold your attention (curiosity?).

Excellent lighting and silhouette - but you cropped off where the bottom of the boat meets the water, which keeps this from being an excellent shot. (Was there a reason you had to crop there?)

too much dark on both sides. Excellent reflection in ceiling, framing of fountain, use of silhouettes. You do want it dark in foregound, but not quite this dark, I think.
