Still life of shrimp with lemonby ekmaiComment: I get it - the shrimp are quitting being sour? Or maybe an inadvertent entry in the wrong challenge? Nice lighting, arrangement of subject(s), slicing of the lemons, and use of the cloth. |

The Guardianby fldaveComment: I love lighthouses, and this one is very nice. You might want to consider offsetting it one way or the other so it isn't dead center of the shot. |

Weddingby jellybellyComment: Try finding a horizontal line to make parallel with the top or bottom. It looks like you lined up the vertical edge of the building and the trees, but the shot still feels tilted. Also, it looks slightly OOF to me (but may just be my eyesight!). Great idea & setup. I like the old-fashioned photographer in the scene.

Bring on the Trolls!by mileskeaComment: And obviously played with. Someone spent lots of hours painting these. I was looking for HIT (my hobbit) for this challenge, but couldn't find him... (they are, after all, known for being able to remain unseen when large folk are about). |

Veggiesby Maureen TheriotComment: Must say I don't "get" the voters. This is a very nice image. Two things I think hurt - the top of the basket being cropped off, and the dark part just inside the basket between the two peppers. The other factor, I think, was that there just wasn't whatever it is that makes voters give out 6's. Your voting graph has to be one of the most consensus ones I've ever seen - a ton of 5's (more than 2x as much as any other vote) - just the few more 4 & 3 (and the obligatory 2) kept this from being over 5. I'm surprised you didn't get a "shallower depth of field" comment, but I like that you've kept the entire subject in focus. |

How they got their edge...by prperoldComment: A bit obscure for the voters, I'm sure, but a nice image. Love the light trail & glow. Might have been a bit more obvious if the Apple logo was right side up from the viewer's perspective. |

Architectural Inspirationby FrankRobinsonComment: You beat me, and my shot was of a helicopter in flight (motivational)! I have to agree about the angles and textures, and to crop a bit more on the right - my "guess" would be to just lose the two ground poles (the rightmost one "has its back to the subject"). I also find the light poles on top of the structure a distraction.

Pensiveby brockincstarComment: This is an excellent example of dpchallenge voter blindness. I think this is a very, very nice shot that got hammered big time because people expected to see a table or part of one in the shot. The challenge was to shoot from a table top to get a different perspective, which you've done perfectly - this is not a usual angle for a portrait. I like the lighting, the pose, the expression. The shot loses absolutely nothing with the crop. Trust your gut - not dpchallenge voters. I could easily see this shot as part of an exhibition or in a gallery. |
