Signsby canaryComment: I like the idea of your metaphor, but without the narrative, it's lost -- the composition is too busy, as the star and the traffic light are competing for attention. The building looks overexposed.
Keep trying; you have some creative ideas. Message edited by author 2008-06-02 20:51:02. |

Dawn on the Bayby ScapeshotsComment: I like this, but there's still something lonely about it that I can't quite place. Maybe it is the colors. The city and the water suggest dawn, but the sky overhead looks like afternoon. Maybe a tighter crop would help. Still, great focus and very clean processing. Once the building construction is done, I look forward to some great skyline shots. |

Morning fieldsby MelethiaComment: This is good if a little too busy. I think the rows of flowers (crops?) leading to the trees on the horzion, with the land filling the bottom third or so of the frame, would have been good on its own. Of course you probably didn't want to go traipsing through someone's property with your camera to get a better shot. I'm glad I could recompose your image for you.
Working with what you have, I think cropping off the bottom row of dirt and grass would help orient the viewer and make it less busy. I'm wondering too how this might have looked in low-saturation color or a duotone.
Probably more than you wanted to hear from me... |

Column Detailby BAMartinComment: Nice imposing angle -- really captures the hugeness of it. The top corner that's just barely clipped off strikes me as careless, but it hardly takes from the overall impact. Looks like you shot this early in the morning (or at dusk) which was wise. Nice BW processing too. |

Warming upby tjbel05Comment: Great focus and capture of potential energy (see, I was paying attention in Physics class). I also like the narrow DOF and the effect of the trail lines converging in the background. |

Swansby ShutterPugComment: A good nature shot. Nice earthy tones and the DOF is perfect. |

Dark Pathby NeilComment: Great angle and effective use of tilt. I love the harsh, grainy processing -- really enhances the scene. |

Bellagio2.jpgby kleskiComment: Good job cloning. Too bad about the lower left. I photograph a lot of architecture and know that immovable (is that a word?) obstructions are a real pain. Nice exposure and colors too. |

The two of them!by ikopanasComment: Nice silhouette effect and a beautiful sunset. Would like to have seen the water in slightly sharper focus. |

The Match (Outtake) [Tricolor]by vladoComment: I think you picked the right image to enter. To be brutally honest, there's just not much there, so I think compositionally, you had some limitations. Given that, the one with the blue background and somewhat agitated flame is more intriguing. |
