Wood St. 1:08 PMby bvyComment: Originally posted by Iraklis: I like their positioning. They are proximate but in completely different places. Very nice hip shot once again... I recognise the guy on the right....is this your neighborhood? |
Ha! Nope. Never seen him before, don't expect to again. I just happened to catch a few shots of him from different angles. Guess I need some new material. I didn't get much time to shoot last week, and those opportunities I did have were bright sunny days, which is a challenge for shooting street shots.
Originally posted by Iraklis: Interesting, I find cloudy days more challenging...and prefer sunny days. I guess it's cause I like to use shadows when I can. Curious, why do you feel the opposite? |
Since I shoot from the hip, it's much harder to set exposure. Usually the bright background is what gets properly exposed at the cost of underexposed subjects. On an overcast day, the light is more uniform. Lately I've been experimenting with spot metering and manually setting exposure -- with mixed results. You use light and shadows to great advantage in your work; I hope to be able to emulate that soon. |

Awaiting Tenantsby LVicariComment: The colors really make this shot for me. The lighting is perfect. Something is clearly lighting the front of the house, but it looks like it's dark outside. I'll be curious to read about this one. |

The Inner Circleby KelliComment: Way overstaturated, not terribly interesting. I think working on crisper focus, a different angle, more flattering lighting (any or all of those) would have shown off your subject better. |

Dateline, Old Town: "The Lines Lead Away As Market Sags"by 777STANComment: Certainly abandoned, but the tilt doesn't add anything. The tie-in with the title is a bit too ambitious. As far as the technicals, capturing this just before dusk or after dawn might have given more interesting lighting, shown off the textures better. |

An Arch in the Forestby MaryOComment: Abandoned? If the structure is part of a rail line or some other abandoned thing, the image doesn't give enough context for us to make the connection. |
