|Taken out near the old Lorton Prison. I took a lot of shots of the prison buildings but didn't really like any of them a lot, then wandered off on a trail (I had a dog with me; she expected a hike). First time I've encountered this perspective and I liked it :-) A random arch in the midst of trees.
This arch is the underside of a bridge and is not actually abandoned, though it looks that way from the condition of the bricks underneath. It is an old one lane bridge on Furnace Road called the Barrel Bridge which was built in 1946 as part of the prison complex.
There were cars travelling over it periodically while I was there and I've even driven over it, though now that I've seen it from the other side I may avoid it ==:-O
PP - rotated slightly, cropped, levels, white balance, increased saturation, dodged bricks, cloned out small signs on the far left, colored bench to match trees, colored blueish patch in path to better match rest of path, 2nd layer (HDR, Gaussian blur, merged in multiply mode at 30% transparency), added border, resized, sharpened.
