Rice Cookerby pawdrixComment: Well, I'm still in a place where I find 5.6 a respectable score. I think it should have scored better, but I'm not surprised that it didn't. That said, I think this shot is more about Asia than perhaps all of the Top 10 combined (with one or two notable exceptions).
I also think (to an extent) that it's silly to talk about distractions in street photography. The people in the background are part of the life of the image, part of the buzz. It's not like they're naked! And the good use of DOF here clearly relegates them to the background. Maybe next time you should huddle all these folks together, bring some lights, tell them what you're up to, maybe have them tidy up a bit (pick up the garbage, dress up a bit), and then tell them all to act natural.
Alright, I'm babbling. Good one. I didn't vote in this challenge, but I'd have scored this high. So blame me in part! |

Week 01 Originalby KenComment: Good backlighting. I like the contrast between nature and that which is man-made, and how they seem to be converging, almost embracing each other. |

Eveby trevytrevComment: Beautifully soft. Thanks for not cranking up the saturation, and for not coverting to black and white either. The subtle skin and hair tones are perfect. |

Week 1: Steppin' Outby tinky2Comment: This is good as is. Converted well, it might also make a good black and white. Lots of great textures here... Message edited by author 2009-01-10 13:09:04. |

Mmmmmm...Cake!by banmornComment: That's great! Good eye for seeing something that the rest of us might have overlooked. Nice uncluttered composition too. Looks like natural light... |

Flyingby KelliComment: Excellent! What I like most is the imposing angle and sort of dumb look on his face. Makes him look especially reckless and dangerous. |

Oliver by ZigomarComment: This is an excellent set of images. Candid and brutally honest. What's interesting is that amidst the abysmal conditions here, these kids are filled with joy. Great stuff. Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing. |

I'm sure it's in your Top 10.
Nice try, Bear. I didn't fare much better in this one... |
