monster shadowby ursulaComment: This is a very eye-catching effect! Makes you question your eyes - what is the object what is the shadow? Makes you think about how light effects our perception of shape. I wonder how a slightly different angle to the composition would work - more diagonal? I love the gentle range of tones inthe shadow. 9 |

Moonscapeby sjonniComment: Egill? I enjoyed seeing this as contract to the moon subjects in this challenge. The way the light picks out his head and the mike is very dramatic, but also a bit funny. A nice portait. You've gotten great detail and focus in the light spots, I like the predominance of the blackness - gives a feeling of perfomance. 9 |

Charcoal Kilnsby fleenkComment: I like this composition - the kilns moving into the background, the colors, red green and blue. Nice clouds too. 9 |

Murex Ramosusby timmiComment: I like the blue backlight - how it catches the edges of the shell - wish the left hand side had the same highlights. The yellow center has a great glow - is the shell that smooth and uniformly colored on the inside - it feels like the light has washed out the details. |

Circle Portraitby TooCoolComment: This is a great idea. At first the blue seeems like a frame - then you see the subtle texture and the elbow over the edge and realize it in real. Nice way to include shape, make it your subject while having aperson as a subject. I like the way the background too. 9 |

circle of a pearlby neenee1999Comment: A very festive shape. I like yor use of DOF - the front bit is nice and sharp the back ones are out of focus enough so as not to destract or confuse the shape of the the front piece, but they give a nice background - th elight on the sparkles gove nice bubbles of light. |

A child's Shape Sorting Cubeby JasonComment: Our forst experiences with shapes. A good idea. I like the spotlight too - metaphore for how a child will focus on one toy. one task. Perhaps a close-up of the top of the box, with the holes and shapes starting to fit though would be a more cohesive image - more "focused." I like the shape of the holes. The "cage" of shapes below is a bit jumbled and hard to see, ittakes away from the strong image of the top of the box. |

Knightby jmsetzlerComment: Nice study in whites. You have gotten a nice sculpted look with minimal range. The effect definitely emphasizes shape. Spot on the top between ear and eye is so bright, I can bearly see a separatrion between the knight and the white background (if at all) Just a slight adjustment in lighting or exposure would righ that. I'd like to see another pic done of a black knight on a black background and matte the two together (after the competition naturally!) 8 |

Nutsby melongrindComment: Interesteing pattern, repetition. I like the bright pink contrast with the scratchy silver. In spots the lighting is a bit blow out, and the focus isn't as sharp as I'd like. |

Sunset Skylineby AzrifelComment: the silouettes acheive a nice shape effect. I like the contract between the regular roofline and the windmill. While it is good to have the sky bright and less detailed so you focus on the shapes, I'd like to see a bit more contract and color. |
