Murder By Dartby wayne9232Comment: yikes! another balloon photo - This one makes me wince at the thought of the impending sound. But where the other one was too late to make me really feel th sound, this one is too early. Again, I know it would be SO hard to catch a balloon popping, but this just makes me want to see it. The color, light and composition and great in this photo! And the frame even adds to the feeling of the coming explosion....It is VERY nice. I really shouldn't complain. 7 |

Popby AleciaComment: I like this idea and the lighting gives nice definition to the shape of the string a bit of balloon and the shadow gives a great feeling of the action, Although the title tells me what has happened - a baloon has popped - what my eyes tell me is a bit of broken balloon is falling to the ground. I don't feel the pop. I know how hard it must be to catch the defining moment of a balloon popping, nevertheless -this doesn't do it. Kudos for trying! |

Classicby byetkoComment: Intriguing angle on a violin. makes it look almost like a bridge. I like the curve coming into the corner bottom right. The reflection is nice too. DOF might be a little narrow, I'd like to see what it looks like with a bit more in focus. The central point here is this piece of wood that hold up the strings, but that doesn't make me feel sound. Maybe if the strings were really illuminated - would be neat to see them in the reflection too. Nice photo. but doesn't fit the challenge so well for me. |

"Scream"by mbardeenComment: Hee, hee! Fun! There is sound all over the place in this picture. I like the composition with the curve coming over the top - sound surround us and the action that provokes the screams is obvious. The stucture at the bottom might be distracting, but I feel it provides balance and makes the viewer wonder what curves and loops these poor screamers are going into next. Wish it could have been sharp or more blurred with motion, but I'm just being
a little picky now. 8 |

Split Secondby crabappl3Comment: NICE idea. This definitly makes make think sound! Must have been dificult to do - lighting both the shiny and mat parts of the clock, getting the motion. I wish the second hand were a little darker/clearer to see. 9 |

Listen!by eikidigiComment: I like the blue and orange of the hightlights that shape the headphones so we can see them against the black. I like the composition - just wish the crop wasn;t so tight on the top. Very nice exectution and subject - makes me want to pick them up and hear what music is playing. 8 |

Hand Drumsby shareinncComment: These drums seem silent - I wish you could have found a way to show the viewer how they sound, or what they look like when making sound. Wish it were all in focus, and the lighting were more distinct. |

Note of Dby KneeforuComment: Vibrating string - a good visual reminder of sound. Cropping on the left would help the eye to see it better. I like the curve of the guitar against the dark, but I wish the edge on the top right wasn't cropped. |

Moonlight Sonataby qachykComment: Interesting angle. The piano keys hanging there like the moon in the sky...I'm not sure it works for me. The dark cool lighting and lack of focus also makes me think of the moon, but even the moon cuold be brighter and provide more distinction to what it shines on. The blur of the fingers in motion riminds you of how music moves. However the fingers don't look so recognizable - perhaps a little more light or inclusion of more than 3 fingers would help. The crop on the keyboard is also awkward - none of the lines matching up with the frame of the picture everything is a jumble of angles. You have a lot of nice ideas it just doesn't come together for me. |

Gentle Tonesby dsidwellComment: I thought of doing wind chimes too -you are right they make such "gentle tones." While I know that a tree is the appropriate place for the chimes, I find the background a bit distracting. maybe if you'd had an even smaller DOF or composed the shot with less big branches in the background? I like the way the feathery green of the leaves reminds me of the sounds of the chimes. The shadow that falls across the chimes is also distracting. I do like how the wind-catching part seems to be floating rather than hanging, it give a nice feel for the subject. |
