Day No. 5by GermaineComment: Seems a bit bright to me. Because of it, we lose what seems like nice details in the arch and ceiling - it looks like there is an edge right where the light fixture is but because of the overexposure, we can really see it. If it was there, it would help lead the eye around the frame and help your picture a lot. |

Old Tiles New Tilesby FrostyPawsComment: A little soft and the composition is a bit static. I like the reflection on the wall though and the tonal range is really good. |

random dogby rozComment: The dog is incredibly sharp and the B&W conversion is very well done, with good tones but I am unsure what to think of the effect you gave to the sky. It looks as though it doesn't belong into the same picture. Is this a composite image? Also, I'd suggest cropping a little of the empty space on the right of the dog. |

Cosmosby FrostyPawsComment: A little dark for me. I would have preferred a brighter flower to off set nicely against the background. Excellent sharpness and the bokeh in the back is very pleasing. |

Day 5by breadfan35Comment: I like the blurred background and the textures in the peeling paint. B&W does wonders for subjects like this. The vignetting is also a nice touch as it helps focus the eye where you wanted it and make the best of the shallow DOF. Simple and effective. |

Day 05 - Broken glassby hajekaComment: The textures of the broken glass edges are beautiful and work well with the black background. I especially like the right part of the glass and wonder how this would look in a close-up shot. |

Skull orchidby carofoComment: I did not know that resizing altered the sharpness of the image. I'll add that to my workflow. CapeSail's high pass filter brought it back very close to the original sharpness so I think we got the mystery solved.
Thanks to all who put in their 2 cents. |

Skull orchidby carofoComment: Damn! I just looked at the color file and it is soft. My original (in its real format) was not. In fact, it was so sharp that you could see all the scratches done to the petals by people brushing against the plant on display.
HELP! What am I doing wrong when I save my files for the web? |

OK! Can you help me understand what's happening with my files? This is the original color file . To me, it looks as crisp as possible (the lower petal is blurred because of the shallow dof) and because I focused on the center of the flower. How can it go soft in the conversion? This SC is for learning so I'm all ears!!
Unless you mean that the flower is not entirely sharp, in that case, I agree. |
